With Olympiakos breezing through the round of sixteen, there are only two rounds standing between them and another Olympic Stadium final. Thrylos defeated Chania in convincing fashion, 10-1 on aggregate, to reach the quarter finals.

The reds have been drawn against Asteras Tripolis. The Peloponnese side are the only representative from outside the capital or Thessaloniki to reach this year’s quarter final stage.

The star have represented Greece again this season in the Europa league; finishing third in a tough group containing Schalke and Sparta Prague. On the domestic front they currently sit just outside the playoff places in sixth, two points behind Panionios, also in the quarter finals this year.

Tripoli over came last season’s Football League Playoff contenders, AEL Larissa, to reach the quarter final stage. Asteras progressed with a 6-0 aggregate winning, winning by three goals both home and away.

The danger man for Asteras is undoubtedly Apostolis Giannou, who has been in sensational for this season. The former Panionios and PAOK man has found the net 12 times in 16 Superleague appearances for the Arcadians this term, with a total of 13 goals in 23 appearances.
