Marko Silva looks to continue wasting no time in rebuilding his squad for the upcoming season. Just days after the arrival of Figueiras, a second player looks set to be arriving at the port.
A verbal agreement is reported to have been met to bring Sporting CP’s midfielder, André Martins, to Olympiakos. The Portuguese player finds himself out of contract this summer, after starting out in the club’s youth set-up over a decade ago.
At Sporting, Martins only featured eight times this season, however, Marko Silva knows him well from his time as Sporting head coach. Under Silva, he featured on 21 occasions during the 2014/15 season, in which they won the Taça de Portugal (Portuguese cup) together.
Martins was capped twice by Portugal earlier in his career, both caps coming back in 2013. The player can play central midfield, attacking midfield or as a second striker.
Once finalised, this transfer shows real intent from the club to get business concluded early. It will be hoped that the good news doesn’t end here, and Silva can get the squad molded in his vision before the European qualification campaign gets underway.
